iAMECS Advanced Server How Fast Is It? We've always claimed that IAS is the fastest most powerful One Card System on the market. But how fast is it? Recently, we decided to find out. Because our server programs do not poll our devices, we can maintain far faster transaction speeds than the competition. Although we previously tested our servers at two hundred transactions per second, we wanted to know how fast they could go and would they hold together with hundreds of devices connected? The Test Bed We used our Jigsaw Reader Server running on a 2.0Mz Pentium 4 processor machine with 500M of ram. The database server is a SuperMicro computer with dual 2.20Mz Xenon processors and 5G of ram. The network is 100mbs. Of course we could not connect hundreds of devices to the system for testing, so a custom simulator was built to instantiate individual threads simulating devices. The simulator also allowed us to continuously fire transactions at the server. This would not be possible if you had to pull individual cards. During our testing, over 20,000 card transactions were processed. The test environment did not attempt to duplicate normal operating or network conditions, so results in the field will certainly be different. The tests were to see what would happen in a perfect environment. The Results We were amazed! No matter what we threw at it, the server never failed. With 100 devices connected and constantly firing, the server consistently processed over 300 transactions per second. With 1,000 devices connected, the server consistently processed over 100 transactions per second. How fast is your One Card System? |
